Uttar Pradesh Day or UP Diwas is observed on 24 January as on 24 January 1950, United Provinces was renamed as Uttar Pradesh. The former governor of UP Ram Naik proposed to celebrate 24 January as UP Day. In 2017, UP government declared that 24 January would be celebrated as UP Day every year. 

In 2018, first UP Day was observed. 

On 9 November 2000, Uttarakhand was carved out of Uttar Pradesh to form a separate state. 

The current Chief Minister of UP is Yogi Adityanath and the governor is Anandiben Patel.
